Homemade Yogurt

I have always thought that yogurt was tough to make.  I recently decided to give it a try and it turned out GREAT!  I wish I would have started making this yogurt a LONG time ago!  It is going to save me SO much money!
I got my recipe from Salad-In-A-Jar blog and I definitely recommend heading over there and checking it out!  She even has a video on how she made it!  It helped me out!  Check out the Recipe and Video HERE.
Salad in a Jar incubates her yogurt in the oven, but my oven does not go that low.  So I incubated my yogurt in a ice chest with towels.  I also put a towel on the top and then closed the ice chest.  I then set it on my dryer for about 8 hours.
It worked out GREAT!  When I pulled the yogurt out it was still warm and looked like yogurt!
To make Greek Yogurt you have to strain the Whey off.  I used a regular strainer lined with Cheese Cloth.  Keep all of the Whey because I have a great bread recipe that I will soon post that uses Whey!  When it is strained, you just whip it and add your flavorings.  I flavored ours with honey and sugar.  It was Great!

  10. We've made this in the crock-pot before, and if it's not thick enough, you can add dried milk to it when you whisk in the yogurt starter: http://practical-stewardship.com/2012/01/14/homemade-crock-pot-yogurt-recipe/
