Stockings Week- Our Parents

Here are our original stockings that we had as little girls. Our mom made these starting in 1980 to 1992.

The girl names are embroidered in Green and the boys in Red.
They are hanging in the front room in the window strung on a piece of twine.

I asked my Mom what her favorite things to Give in our stockings were Oranges, Nuts and a Candy Bar.
Her favorite things to Receive as a child were Oranges and Candy.
I asked my Dad what he got when he was little and he said that he would always get the Old Fashioned Christmas Candy, Oranges, and Nuts.

Guess the tradition lives on through generations...

We used to give an orange or an apple in the stocking--our family was large too--it stretched the budget and filled the stocking. But when I married, my hubby wasn't too keen on the orange thing!

Homemade stockings are the best! I never have time for projects like this during the holiday season, so I'm trying to get a jump on things now.

I would love it if you would share this at my new 12 Days of Christmas in July linky party. You can link up here:
